Normally, you'd pay a premium to fly to Australia in September, since it coincides with the arrival of spring there.

Good news: Qantas Airways has a deal that can save you some serious cash, even if you want to go in September. For $1199, its Aussie AirPass lets you fly to Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane, plus up to 3 additional flights to your choice of Australian cities.  By our calculations, you could save up to $900 using the AirPass -- it's like getting 4 cities for the price of 1.

The additional cities include (remember, you can choose up to 3): Sydney, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Adelaide, Gold Coast, Hobart, Newcastle and Launceston.

To get this deal, you must depart for Australia between Aug. 1 and Sept. 21 from Los Angeles, San Francisco or Honolulu and restrict your domestic flights to within Qantas' Zone 1 (those cities shown above). You may fly to cities in other zones starting at $100-$400 more.

Travelzoo Tip: For the international leg of your flight, note that departures from Los Angeles are direct and nonstop to Sydney, Brisbane or Melbourne. Flights from San Francisco can be either nonstop to Sydney or direct (via L.A.) to Sydney, Brisbane or Melbourne.  Flights from Honolulu are nonstop to Sydney only.
